Wolf photo for artist reference.
A wolf in the snow. If you've been wanting to paint a wolf, this one would be a good one. His eyes are squinted against the falling snow and he's curled up near a log for warmth.

These photos of wolves were a challenge! I shot them through glass at the Bear and Wolf Recovery Center in West Yellowstone. Even though the weather was below zero, I was warm and dry. :) My hands froze to the camera taking photos of the bears, so to warm them up, I came inside to see the wolves.
It's not easy to get photos without reflection when shooting through glass, but it can be done if the glass is really clean, and the light is just right. The inside of the windows were clean, but the outside was covered with places where the wolves had touched them with wet noses or big sloppy paws.
In spite of the glass, if you'd like to paint some wolves, I've got photos for you.

Mountain sheep ram, photo for sale as artist reference.
This ram almost has a fully curled horn. He was magnificent!
I have other photos of him if you need reference for a painting you're doing of mountain sheep. I also have photos of the sheep on a cliff of tumbled rocks, and other settings. Females, males and young ones are available.

Hawk flying, wings outspread. Photo for sale.
Words don't begin to describe how this sight makes me feel...think how free he is up there!

These hawks are so awesome. So many times when I get my lens focused on them, I see them looking me right in the eye. This one was just concerned with flying off. The colors and patterns of their feathers are so wonderful.

Buck deer, reference photo for sale.
This guy had only one antler also. It was fun to see the bucks in this process of shedding antlers.

One antlered deer, artist reference photo for sale.
The bucks we saw on Christmas day were losing their antlers. This buck had antlers on his left side only. I bet his head felt lopsided when he first lost that right antler.

Camouflage deer.
Here's another one. It's easy to see how so many deer avoid the hunters! You can walk right by them and barely know they are there.

Camouflage deer.
Another really cute deer. They are not certain if we're looking at them or not, they really believe they're hidden.

Camouflage deer.
Can you find the deer? We had so much fun taking these photos. We found some pockets of whitetail deer in thickets. The bucks were loosing their antlers, and some of them only had one antler left. I bet it feels funny to them, when their heads are lopsided.

Snowy road.
Point of interest...we found passage through some snowy roads to get these photos for you. :)
Hope you've enjoyed the pictures so far, more to come.

PS, remember, these photos could be used for wood burning projects, plasma cutting on metal, arts and craft projects....
Hen pheasant, photo for sale as artist reference.
The colors on the hens are muted, but I think the patterns make them as interesting as the male birds.

Rooster pheasant, photo for sale as artist reference.
The colors in pheasants are incredible. The detail in the large version of this photo is good, and the colors are clear and vibrant.
