Deer in a nice monochromatic color scheme.

These deer would make a nice monochromatic color scheme in a painting. There's one photo in this series for a camouflage painting, you can barely see the deer, but know she's there.

Here's a little cottontail in the shade. For anyone creating aceo cards, or animal paintings, this rabbit is an ideal subject.

Jack Rabbit reference photos for sale to artists.

When you see this rabbit up close, he has such a cute expression on his face. He isn't very large in the scheme of the total photo, but this is how they live out on the bare prairie. You'll be able to create a great painting from this guy! And I have more of him hopping and loping across the grasslands.

Evening light on the mountain

This mountain is close to Swift Dam, just west of Dupuyer, on the Rocky Mountain Front. When the sun sets in the west, it highlights the ridges and darkens the shadows. The fall colors are beautiful against the blue of the mountains.

Rocky Mountain Front, west of Dupuyer, Montana.

Here's a scene of the Rocky Mountain Front, near Swift Dam. Swift Dam is west of Dupuyer, Mt. There's a trail head there, going into the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

A storm had just passed through this area, the light was brassy looking and different, giving a bronzed effect to the fall colors. The blue of the mountains is set off by this color.

Lone Cow in a big landscape.

The storm moved across the high country, leaving this cow high and dry on the lower ridge. She looks small in this overpowering landscape. The play of warm and cool colors add to the attraction of this photo.

Cowboy chasing cattle, using stock whip.

I've got a few photos for sale of cowboys chasing cattle. This cowboy uses a stock whip. The light was good, and the bay horse is beautiful.

Email me at montanahorsegallery@earthlink.net if you're interested in using this photo in a painting.

Tamarack trees in the Swan Valley

Nothing's prettier than the tamarack trees in the fall. Those delicate orange needles fall upon the earth, creating a carpet on the forest floor. When you ride your horse beneath the branches, the needles fall onto you and your horse, turning you both orange. The forest floor is silent as you ride across the needles. It's a wonderful experience.

If you like painting details against a soft background, the tamarack needles are perfect for you!

Photos of yellow and white tabby cat for sale as artist reference.

Here's my cat Scarlet, posing for you. If you like to paint cats, she's a good one to paint, lots of personality.

We also have a black cat named Sing Song. She has beautiful green eyes, I'll post some photos of her one of these days so you can create another great painting!

Click the title above to be taken to the yellow cat gallery of photos.

If you're not an artist, and you don't need reference photos, sit back and enjoy the pictures...:)
